Programme Overview
Biomedical engineers design and develop medical devices, instrumentation and software used in healthcare — from advanced prosthetics to new drug delivery methods. At NUS, you’ll combine knowledge from chemistry, physiology, materials, mechanics, electronics and imaging, and learn to apply these in biomedical instruments, orthopaedic implants, prosthetic devices and healthcare robotics. You can specialise in Robotics. With the fast-growing adoption of technology in medical practice, BME graduates work in hospitals, medical technology companies, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. If you’re interested in the biological science side rather than the engineering application, consider Biological Sciences or Medicine instead. Applies engineering principles to healthcare challenges, including medical device design, prosthetics, imaging systems, and tissue engineering. Singapore's biomedical sector is a national priority with significant government investment.
