Programme Overview

NUS Communications and New Media (CNM) is one of the most unique communications programmes in Asia — it blends traditional media studies with digital design, human-computer interaction, and data-driven communication. Unlike pure journalism or mass communication degrees elsewhere, CNM trains you across three domains: communication research, digital media production, and interactive design. You will learn to create social media campaigns, design interactive digital experiences, and analyse media effects using quantitative methods. The programme is housed within FASS but draws heavily from computer science and design thinking. Graduates work across tech companies, media agencies, government communications, and UX/UI design. If you are interested in the intersection of technology, storytelling, and social influence, CNM is a standout choice. It pairs well with a second major in Psychology, Sociology, or Computer Science. Explores how information shapes public opinion, culture, and society. Combines media theory with practical skills in journalism, PR, digital media, and strategic communication for Singapore's diverse media landscape.
