Programme Overview
NUS Food Science and Technology (FST) is the only IUFoST-accredited food science degree in Singapore. The programme covers the full spectrum of food science — from agricultural science and food chemistry to food processing, food safety, sensory science, and nutrition. Singapore’s national "30 by 30" food security goal (producing 30% of nutritional needs locally by 2030) has made food technology a strategic priority, and NUS FST graduates are at the forefront of this effort. What makes this programme distinctive is its breadth: you study everything from urban farming technology to food waste valorisation. The programme offers direct admission (unlike most CHS open majors), meaning you apply specifically for FST during the admissions exercise. If you are interested in food innovation, quality assurance, or nutrition research, this is one of the best programmes in Southeast Asia. It pairs well with a second major in Chemistry or a Minor in Nutrition.
