Programme Overview

NUS Industrial Design trains you to create products, services, and systems that improve people’s lives. The programme blends creative design thinking with engineering knowledge, user research, and prototyping. Unlike pure art or engineering programmes, Industrial Design at NUS sits within CDE and emphasises the integration of aesthetics, function, and technology. You learn through studio-based projects, working with materials, digital fabrication, and user-centred design methods. Three specialisations are available: Product Innovation, Social and Service Transformation, and Design Futures and Critical Inquiry. Admission requires a portfolio review and interview. If you are drawn to creating physical and digital products but want a more technical foundation than a fine arts degree, NUS Industrial Design is an excellent choice. Graduates work at design consultancies, tech companies, and government agencies.
