Sergey has taught mathematics, physics, chemistry, and related subjects for well over 20 years. He holds a Master of Science in Chemistry from Yale University (1996), where he specialized in theoretical and computational chemistry and held a Teaching Fellowship supervising undergraduate laboratory courses. Before teaching full time, he worked for several years in the software and pharmaceutical industries. Sergey is especially passionate about training students to solve challenging problems, including contest and olympiad problems that go beyond the standard curriculum. He believes optimal learning happens when a student is always working at just the right level of difficulty, neither too easy nor overwhelming, so he pays close attention to each student's thought process to accurately assess their knowledge. His former students have gone on to Harvard, Waterloo, McGill, the University of Toronto, Queen's, and other highly competitive universities.
